As a chancellor of Germany and the chair of EU Council you are the only person that can affect the situation in Estonia. The country taken into the European Union as a democratic state ignores all laws and regulations declared in its constitution. By its violence against the defenders of the monument to warriors-liberators in the center of Tallinn Estonian government and its Prime-Minister Andrus Ansip demonstrated disrespect to European values. Estonia showed to the whole world that it is a police state the citizens of which are divided into to classes. The first represents the citizens of higher sort, titular ethnic group, Estonians. The second is lower race to which Estonian legislation related all national minorities living in the country. The conflict that resulted in bloody clashes around the monument was growing for a long time. People defending the monument consider it a symbol of their democratic rights for worthy life in Estonia. They protested not only against the demolition of the monument, they protested, protest and will protest against the attitude of Estonian authorities towards them as to people of second sort, as to lower race, as to descendants of “Russian” bandits, “occupants”.

The defenders of the monument are law-abiding citizens that fell into despair because of unlawful actions of Estonian authorities that divided the population of the country by nation and language. For them the monument to Soviet soldiers represents before all the monument to the fighters against fascism but not the symbol of imperial politics.

Joining the European Union Estonia took obligations to follow democratic principles but having forgotten its Christian background it fights today with silent monuments, with defenseless children and old people with non-Estonian origins thus continuing traditions of Germany in 1930s – 1940s.

Let us remind you, Mrs Merkel that today you can live in free, democratic Germany, in free, democratic Europe thanks to those soldiers the monument to whom was recently demolished in Tallinn.
